Comedy
Improv Workshop
Do you have trouble
handling nerves at auditions?
Do you want to be able to
handle mistakes and blurbs with more wit and humor?
Do you want to "up" the
quality of what you can handle at an audition?
This is an absolute for any
actor, comedy improvisation ie, "Who's Line is it Anyway" is an
impressive credit on the resume and will help an actor's ability to
handle more complex or comedic roles.
Taught by Bill McLaughlin,
well-known for his class in NY., where students include Michael
Knight from All My Children. Bill is a founding member of Chicago
City Limits, workshop director for First Ammendment Improv Co. with
alumni Bruce Willis, Kathy Kinney and John Leguizamo. His TV credits
include ESPN, FOX and Nickelodeon. His comedy performances include:
The Improv (LA), The Comedy Store and Catch a Rising Star.
Don't be afraid, even if
you don't have a comedic bone in your body, you will love this
class, we promise you will at least leave with a pain in your side
from laughing so hard.
What People are saying that
have attended the Comedy Improv Workshop at Wickline
Casting:
"I enjoyed the Comedy Improv Class last
night at Wickline Casting. Bill McLaughlin surely knows what he is
teaching, and it shows. The subject matter we covered allowed for
exactly what the title of the class implies - comedic improvisation.
If the level of faculty your facility employs matches what was
available for that class, you have very good fortune. This was one I
would have regretted missing!" – Andrew Irons
Comedy
Improv “Making your Comedic Self
Available”
Have you always thought you were
funny but don’t know how to apply that skill when auditioning?
“Improvisational Comedy is a hot
skill that is increasingly in high demand. For an actor to be able
to show their lighter side and quick wit through improv is a key
strength applicable to MANY auditions. Audiences want to be
entertained today. It is a wise actor who realizes that much of what
they are auditioning for contains humor and needs comedy
improv.” - Kathy Wickline, Casting Director.
In this course teacher Bill
McLaughlin uses various techniques to allow the student to express
their comedic selves through character range, stage presence,
listening and reaction, and creative agility. Using such techniques
will help you think quickly, on your feet (this is not a stand up
comedy course).
A former student of Chicago’s
renowned Second City Bill McLaughlin will be your instructor for
this course. He was a founding member of Chicago’s City Limits,
Workshop Director for Manhattan Comedy School, and was Workshop
Director of New York’s First Amendment Improv Company for seven
years, during which time he taught none other than actor and
comedian John Leguizamo.
“One actor gives his advice about making
the transition from booking in Philly to booking in LA”
You’re thinking about moving to LA? You
must have many questions and concerns… Come hear from one local guy
who took the plunge and made it!
How do I master the All Important One
Line Audition?
Union vs. Non-Union?
Can I be hired if I’m non
union?
How would I support
myself?
How do I find temporary or permanent
housing?
Do I need an LA agent, and if I do how
do I get one? (each attendee will receive a current LA agents
list)
Bob Noble, who started as a Philadelphia
actor - and who has a VERY successful acting career in Los Angeles -
has recurred on “The West Wing” “Boston Legal” and “Passions” and
co-starred on "ER," “Studio 60” “Crossing Jordan," “The District,”
"Seinfeld", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and a long list of other
popular shows. His Washington Mutual
Bank commercial campaign made him a recognizable face in many
markets. Surprising as it may seem, Bob Noble is not just another
pretty face.
In a fun two hour seminar, Bob will talk
about the Los Angeles market, and how a Philadelphia actor can make
the transition successfully, what pitfalls to avoid and the steps
necessary to make your career successful.

Soap Opera Showcase for Kids & Adults

LIVE
If you have always thought you’d be the next Soap
Star… but just didn’t know how to get your foot in the door, this
showcase is the perfect next step for you.

you!
So, how does the showcase
work?
1-The showcase begins with a half hour Q&A with
Sheryl … this is the chance to ask everything that you want to know
about the soap opera industry! Generally this part of our showcase
relaxes everyone.
2-The second portion will be an audition where
you’ll be reading from a Soap Opera script, with a reader to work
opposite you. Participant’s will receive verbal and written
feedback! Aside from our showcases, this is unheard of in the acting
world.
How Can I Be Invited to Attend? We will be screening all the talent that will be
coming to this showcase… to make sure that it’s a quality showing of
talent from Philadelphia.

"Did
you know that your acting skills are only half of what makes
a successful audition?"
Your voice is the main component of an audition. Using the
power of your voice and knowing how to articulate expression are
often the last piece an actor will look at and the very reason why
most actors do not book. This class will show you how to use the
vehicle of your unique voice to nail characters, narrate and demand
presence at auditions. Learn to step out of your comfort zone and
learned vocal behavior through this amazing class. This class is an
excellent class for on camera and an absolute must for voice of
talent!!!!
