For the showcases we invite only those Producers, Directors, and Casting Directors looking to hire actors for projects they are currently working on. Showcases are not open to beginners. For an actor to be able to show their lighter side and quick wit through improv is a key strength applicable to EVERY audition. Audiences want to be entertained today. In this class teacher Bill McLaughlin uses various techniques to allow the student to express their comedic selves through character range, stage presence, listening and reaction, and creative agility. Using such techniques will help you think quickly, on your feet. He was a founding member of Chicago’s City Limits, Workshop Director for Manhattan Comedy School, and was Workshop Director of New York’s First Amendment Improv Company for seven years, during which time he taught none other than actor and comedian John Leguizamo. This class is conducted by Kathy Wickline. TV Hosting requires a unique ability to turn-on the immediate "likeability factor" on-camera, while successfully engaging the audience. Acting helps sure, however there are definite skills needed for hosting. Do you know how to access them during auditions? Since many of the auditions in this area require hosting skills (for TV, Infomercials, Corporate Film) this is THE one workshop you need in your skill set. It is here that you will learn how to project your personality through various roles. You will learn to trust and build on your character choices and define your ‘type’. Instructor: Donald McKenna This course trains you in how to access your choices in developing characters for drama (TV/Film). Having the ability to deliver a believable character is crucial. Donald's approach of acting by reacting through dramatic improvisation has been proven as successful over and over again by the success of his students in LA, NY and the UK. This is a class is a serious experience that allows the actor to develop the emotions of and the ability to react impulsively as a character. Donald's passion for the art and his genuine caring for each student is unique. His student base has had him fly to LA to teach, and as recently as January 2010, one student flew from LA to Phila twice to work with Donald on NY feature film auditions. Having an agent in Philly is a must for all actors. The Philly Showcase is an intimate event thereby giving talent and agents more time to get to know each other.
