About This Class

New! Professional Spokesperson Workshop
Expand your acting skill set as a professional on-camera spokesperson

This 2-week workshop is perfect for the actor who has some experience in booking on-camera speaking roles or live presentations. This will help you hone your on-camera acting skills through Presentation, Blocking for Camera and Movement/Gesture choices. Corporate and commercial work demands an on-camera spokesperson skill.

80% of the work in this region requires this skill set.

Week 1:

  • You’ll learn how to personalize a script in your unique way while identifying what message needs to be conveyed.

  • Actors will learn proper(camera) framing during the first week. This is definitely a challenge with the new normal self-taped or virtual auditions. (A directors biggest complaint is actors need to learn proper framing.)

  • A script will be sent to you to have performance-ready for Week 2

Week 2:

  • Students would have the script prepared and ready for their final presentation.

  • You will learn blocking for the camera as well as using authentic body movement and gestures for camera. Please have your smart phone or laptop at eye level and framed from the waist up.

This workshop will have you learn quickly on how to present a professional spokesperson self-tape or a virtual audition.

Bonus!
Your final reading will be recorded and shared individually with you via email. This is a valuable learning tool in which to follow your progress.

Testimonials!

I just wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to Kathy Wickline Casting and their phenomenal instructor, Dave Thomas. I have applied what I learned to land a lead in an industrial video just recently! I was completely prepared and managed to make a great impression on the producer and director, as well as the client! Your support and instruction definitely came into play that day...THANK YOU SO MUCH!  Olyvia Bollin

I was looking to fill the holes in my performances, and be competent as well as passionate. I didn’t understand why I had such a hard time in auditions. After taking Dave’s class, I understand how to hit words and bring a script to life. I would recommend this class to an actor looking to take their career to the next level.  Alice Wills

Dave’s Spokesperson Class prepares you for your next casting call. You will rise to a higher level and he will make sure you know what to expect and prepare for it. Thank you Dave for another informative and engaging class, and although you presented us with every possible scenario we could encounter, you did it in such a way that made it fun, enjoyable and not overwhelming.  Mark Smith

In each exercise, participants will learn tricks of top bookers and how to avoid the bad habits that knock an actor out of the running at commercial, tv, or film auditions.  In addition, this session will focus on topics such as working with difficult directors, maximizing your time in front of clients, managing continuity and camera angles, and improving practices for self-recorded auditions.

Once again, this workshop boasts a very supportive setting in a small class environment (maximum enrollment: 8).  Prerequisite:  Participants must have previously taken Acting for Camera I or another class or coaching session with Ann Gillette.

Wickline Casting is fortunate to have this stellar instructor to offer such a widely sought and rarely offered course. Scripts will be distributed in advance of each class. Classes will include short breaks.
